Philippines’ Rolando Dy to defend BKB belt from Paul Malignaggi in Manchester

Paul “Magic Man” Malignaggi, 45, of Brooklyn, New York, United States will challenge Rolando “The Incredible” Dy, 34, the reigning Bare Knuckle Boxing (BKB) World Super Welterweight Champion, at “BKB 54: Mayhem In Manchester”. This is the first title defense of the reigning champion.

Deportes Ahora, Vice TV and the YouTube boxing channel of Talk Sports will broadcast “BKB 54: Mayhem In Manchester”, which will be held at the AO Arena in Manchester, England, U.K. on May 16, 2026. The title bout between Dy and Malignaggi is the main event of the evening.

Two more title bouts are on the card. Dan “The Man” Gittens, 36, of Harlow, Essex, England will challenge reigning BKB Welterweight Champion Javon Wright, 35, of Long Beach, California, USA while Kallum Skhane, 28, of Blaengwynfi, Wales, U.K. and Estevan Partida, 27, of Merced, California will fight for the vacant BKB Super Lightweight Championship title.

“BKB 54: Mayhem In Manchester” marks Malignaggi’s second BKB bout. He currently holds a professional boxing record of 36 wins and 8 losses and a bare knuckle boxing record of 1 win and 1 loss.

As a professional boxer, Malignaggi was undefeated from July 7, 2001 to February 10, 2006. His last boxing bout took place at the O2 Arena in London, England on March 4, 2017.

On June 22, 2019, Malignaggi made his bare knuckle boxing debut at “BKFC 6” in Tampa, Florida, USA where he lost to Artem Lobov via unanimous decision. When Malignaggi made his BKB debut at “BKB 47” in Leeds, England on October 18, 2025, he defeated Tyler Goodjohn via split decision.

As a professional mixed martial artist, Dy fought from October 15, 2011 to February 22, 2025, winning 15 of his 29 matches. He fought in several promotions including the Ultimate Fighting Championship, BRAVE Combat Federation and UAE Warriors.

On December 10, 2022, Dy made his bare knuckle boxing debut at “BKFC Asia 4: The Big Bash” in Bangkok, Thailand. He made his BKB debut in London on September 16, 2023.

On March 10, 2024, Dy lost the BKB British Featherweight Championship fight against Martin Reffell in Wolverhampton, England via unanimous decision. The Filipino boxer defeated Hayden Sherriff at “BYB 32: Leeds Brawl” in Leeds, England on October 12, 2024 and Roberto Duran Jr. at “BKB 41: Brawl in Duval II” in Florida on May 31, 2025 both via technical knockout.
