California’s Chris Padilla beats Wolverhampton’s Jai Herbert at ‘UFC Fight Night 255’ in London

Christopher “Chris” Padilla, 29, of Gardena, California, United States is one of the American mixed martial artists who won at “UFC Fight Night 255”. It marked his third consecutive Ultimate Fighting Championship victory. 

Held at The O2 Arena in London, England, United Kingdom on March 22, 2025, the event also called “UFC on ESPN+ 113” featured 14 matches. The seventh match was a lightweight bout between Padilla and “The Black County Banger” Jai Herbert, 36, of Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England.

Lukasz Bosacki served as a referee. Darryl Ransom, Anders Ohlsson and Vito Paolillo were the judges.

After three five-minute rounds, Bosacki raised Padilla’s hand. Ransom scored the fight 29-28 in favor of Herbert while Ohlsson and Paolillo also scored in 29-29 but both in favor of Padilla.

The victory improved Padilla’s professional MMA record to 16 wins and 6 losses. In 2024, he defeated two UFC opponents namely James Llontop and Zhu Rong.

The loss at “UFC Fight Night 255” downgraded Herbert’s professional MMA record to 13 wins and 6 losses. When he made his UFC debut at “UFC on ESPN 14” on July 25, 2020, he lost to Francisco Trinaldo via technical knockout.

After being submitted by Renato Carneiro at “UFC Fight Night 190” on June 26, 2021, Herbert earned his first UFC win at “UFC Fight Night 196” on October 23, 2021 by defeating Khama Worthy via TKO. At “UFC Fight Night 204” on March 19, 2022, Ilia Topuria knocked out Herbert, who then defeated Kyle Nelson at “UFC Fight Night 208” via unanimous decision on July 28, 2022.

The bout between Herbert and Ludovit Klein at “UFC 286” on March 18, 2023 ended in a majority draw. Herbert lost to Fares Ziam at “UFC Fight Night 224” on July 22, 2023 and defeated Rolando Bedoya at “UFC on ABC 7” on August 3, 2024 both via unanimous decision.
