Huỳnh Thị Thanh Thủy, 22, of Da Nang, Vietnam is the first ever Miss International from Vietnam. She is also the first ever Miss Vietnam winner to compete in Miss International, which is based in Tokyo, Japan.
Than Thuy attended Nguyen Trai High School and the University of Da Nang’s University of Foreign Language Studies, which are both in Da Nang. She is 5’9″ tall and she speaks Vietnamese, Korean and English.
Miss Vietnam 2022
On December 23, 2022, Than Thuy competed against 34 other Miss Vietnam 2022 candidates at the Phu Tho Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and won the title. It is the 18th edition of the national beauty pageant that selects Vietnam’s Miss World candidate.
Runner-up to Than Thuy was Trinh Thuy Linh. The second runner-up was Lê Nguyễn Ngọc Hằng, who later became second runner-up to Miss Intercontinental 2023 Chatnalin Chotjirawarachat.
Miss Vietnam was not held in 2023 and 2024. Than Thuy is expected to crown her Miss Vietnam successor in 2025 before she crowns her Miss International successor.
Miss International 2024
Than Thuy is the fourth woman to represent Vietnam in Miss International. Huỳnh Thị Thùy Dung, Nguyễn Thúc Thùy Tiên and Phạm Ngọc Phương Anh were all unplaced when they represented the Asian country in the competition in 2017, 2018 and 2022, respectively.
Including Than Thuy, a total of 71 women competed for the Miss International 2024 title. She was crowned by Miss International 2023 Andrea Rubio, who served as one of the judges.
The respective first, second, third and fourth runners-up were Camila Roca, 26, of Bolivia, Alba Perez, 23, of Spain, Sakra del Valle Guerrero Roldán, 24, of Venezuela and Sophia Kirana, 24, of Indonesia. Also crowned were four continental queens namely Miss International Africa 2024 Akysanna Vany Vaz da Veiga, 25, of Cabo Verde, Miss International Americas 2024 Shelbi Byrnes Garcia, 27, of Cuba, Miss International Asia Pacific 2024 Mei Ueda, 26, of Japan and Miss International Europe 2024 Hannah Kathleen Hawkshaw, 27, of Ireland.
Maxwell Powers and Nahoko Bolden hosted the coronation ceremony at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan on November 12, 2024. The show featured performances by Shinji Takeda and Little Glee Monster.
