Thailand and the United Kingdom were among the 16 countries represented at “ONE: Destiny of Champions” on December 7, 2018. The fight card featured seven mixed martial arts matches and four Muay Thai contests.
ONE Championship held “ONE: Destiny of Champions” at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In the eighth bout of the evening, Petchmorrakot Wor. Sangprapai, 24, of Bangkok, Thailand, now known as Petchmorrakot Petchyindee Academy, faced Liam “The Hitman” Harrison, 33, of Leeds, England, United Kingdom.
Originally, Petchmorrakot was scheduled to face Charlie “The Boy” Peters, 29, of London, England, United Kingdom. The latter was pulled out of the card and was replaced by Harrison, who took the bout on eight days notice.
Blue Corner
Harrison was born on October 5, 1985. Training out of Bad Company Thai Boxing Gym in Harehills, Leeds, he is an 8-time kickboxing and Muay Thai world champion.
“ONE: Destiny of Champions” marked Harrion’s ONE Super Series debut. He was the only fighter on the card representing the U.K.
The Leeds native was coming out of a loss to Peters. The latter defeated the former via unanimous decision at “Muay Thai Grand Prix 17” on July 7, 2018.
Red Corner
Petchmorrakot was born on February 14, 1993 in Ubon Ratchathani, Isan, Thailand. Training out of Petchyindee Academy in Bangkok, he is a two-division Lumpinee Stadium World Champion.
On June 23, 2018, Petchmorrakot made a successful ONE Super Series debut at “ONE: Pinnacle of Power” at the Studio City Event Center in Macau, China by knocking out “The Funky Drummer” Fabrice Fairtex Delannon, 36, of French Guiana. But on October 6, 2018, the Thai fighter lost to Alaverdi “Dagger” Ramazanov, 23, of Russia at “ONE: Kingdom of Heroes” at the Impact Arena in Bangkok via unanimous decision.
“ONE: Destiny of Champions” marks Petchmorrakot’s third bout in ONE Super Series. He, Panpayak Jitmuangnon, 22, and Yodsanklai “The Hero” IWE Fairtex, 32, are the only three Thai fighters on the card.
Fight Result
Petchmorrakot and Harrison competed in a Muay Thai bout in the featherweight division. Atsushi Onari served as the referee.
Onari put a stop to the Muay Thai featherweight bout between Petmorrakot and Harrison after 1 minute and 15 seconds in the second round. The Thai contender knocked out his English opponent.
Winning at “ONE: Destiny of Champions” improved Petchmorrakot’s record to 157 wins, 34 losses and 2 draws. On the other hand, Harrison now has 84 wins, 23 losses and 2 draws.
“ONE: Destiny of Champions” Main Events
In the co-main event of the evening, Agilan “Alligator” Thani, 23, of Malaysia and Kiamrian Abbasov, 25, of Kyrgyzstan competed in an MMA match in the welterweight division. The Kyrgyzstani contender submitted his Malaysian opponent via rear-naked choke in the first round.
In the main event, Yodsanklai “The Hero” IWE Fairtex, 32, of Thailand took on Luis “Macaco” Regis, 33, of Australia in a ONE Super Series Muay Thai contest. The Thai contender knocked out is Australian opponent in the first round.
Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, Chinese Taipei, Greece, Indonesia, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Portugal, Russia, Ukraine and the United States were also represented at “ONE: Destiny of Champions.” Check the complete results on Conan Daily.
