Mauritius will be represented by Marie Aurelie Carinne Alcindor in the 74th edition of Miss Universe. She will make history as the first mother to represent the country in the international beauty pageant.
Alcindor has two children and is currently engaged to her fellow Olympian Wallace Spearmon Jr. She was born in Flacq District, Mauritius to Clifford Alcindor and Doris Alcindor.
Aurelie Alcindor
Based in Saint Pierre, Moka, Mauritius, Aurelie is a strength and conditioning coach and a model. As a sprinter, she represented the country in international competitions.
In August 2016, Aurelie represented Mauritius at the 2016 Summer Olympics at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Engenho de Dentro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She finished 64th in the 200-meter dash.
In 2017, Aurelie attended Cowley College in Arkansas City, Kansas, United States. In 2018, she entered Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, USA.
Mrs. Mauritius Universe 2019
On December 22, 2019, Aurelie and 19 other women competed for the Mrs. Mauritius World 2019 and Mrs. Mauritius Universe 2019 titles at the Hennessy Park Hotel in Ebene, Quatre Bornes, Mauritius. Divya Yovanee Sisafte was crowned Mrs. Mauritius World 2019.
The Mrs. Mauritius Universe 2019 title was given to Aurelie. In third place was Bindya Kissondoyal-Sookrah, who was named the first runner-up.
Aurelie was supposed to represent Mauritius at Mrs. Universe 2020 in the Philippines in October 2020. However, the competition was cancelled due to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Miss Universe 2025
On May 5, 2023, Aurelie walked the runway at the Mauritius Fashion Festival 2023 at the Shotz Club Flic-en-Flac in Flic-en-Flac, Black River, Mauritius. On August 26, 2025, she was officially appointed Miss Universe Mauritius 2025.
On November 21, 2025, Aurelie will represent Mauritius at Miss Universe 2025 at the Impact Challenger Hall in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi, Thailand. She will compete against 130 other candidates including Nikole Peiliker-Visser, 42, of Bonaire, Lillian Andries, 30, of Botswana, Diana Fast, 32, of Germany, Alejandra Fuentes, 31, of Honduras, Sahar Biniaz, 40, of Iran, Nadeen Ayoub, 30, of Palestine, Karla Bacigalupo, 33, of Peru and Sihle Letren, 30, of Trinidad and Tobago.
Mauritius made its Miss Universe debut in 1975. The country has yet to place in the international beauty pageant.
