Shayari Morataya, 23, is set to represent Belize in an international beauty pageant for the second time. Hailing from Belize City, Belize, she speaks English and Spanish.
Morataya is an advocate for kidney health and awareness. In 2022, she became a member of the Kidney Association of Belize.
On March 23, 2024, Morataya competed against six other Miss World Belize 2023 candidates in Belmopan, Belize. She was runner-up to Noelia Hernandez.
Miss America Latina del Mundo 2024
The ILS Phoenix Foundation holds Belize’s Miss World and Miss America Latina del Mundo franchises. On September 5, 2024, the foundation appointed Morataya Miss Belize Latina 2024.
On October 12, 2024, Morataya represented Belize at Miss America Latina del Mundo 2024 at the Occidental Caribe Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. It is the 37th edition of the oldest international beauty pageant exclusively for Latina women.
Morataya competed against 18 other candidates including Massiel Chupani of the Dominican Republic, who won the title. Runner-up to Chupani was Jade Vautrain of France.
María José Acosta Gómez of Canada was second runner-up. Morataya was unplaced.
Miss World 2025
On November 30, 2024, the ILS Foundation appointed Morataya Miss World Belize 2025. She stated after her coronation, “I am so proud to represent my beautiful Belize, a nation rich in culture, love and resilience.”
“This is more than a crown,” Morataya continued. “It is an opportunity to amplify our voice, to share our story with the world and to bring hope and change where it’s needed most.”
On May 31, 2025, Morataya will represent Belize at Miss World 2025 in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It is the 72nd edition of the oldest existing international beauty pageant.
Including Morataya, more than 80 women are expected to compete for the title. Among her fellow candidates are Cameroon’s Issie Princesse, Ivory Coast’s Marie-Emmanuelle Diamala and Lebanon’s Nada Koussa, who are all former Miss Universe candidates.
If Morataya wins, she will be the first ever Miss World from Belize. Representing the country, Elise-Gayonne Vernon finished in the Top 40 at Miss World 2023, which marked the country’s first placement in the beauty pageant.
