Katerina Dimitriou
Katerina Dimitriou (Κατερίνα Δημητρίου), 29, of Nicosia, Cyprus is one of the Miss Universe 2024 candidates. She is an entrepreneur and an animal rights advocate currently based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Dimitriou is the chief executive officer of Elite Zone, a business setup in the UAE, and an ambassador of Fashion Nova, a fast fashion retail company based in Los Angeles, California, United States. From April 2019 to December 2020, she was a guest services manager in Kanika Hotels and Resorts in Cyprus.
From January 2021 to March 2021, Dimitriou was a customer care and human resources assistant at ADAM Global in Dubai. She joined Shuraa Business Setup in Dubai in March 2021 as a customer service executive and Open Hub Corporate Services in Dubai as a business development manager in January 2023.
The appointment of Dimitriou as Miss Universe Cyprus 2024 was revealed on November 1, 2024. Most of her fellow Miss Universe 2024 candidates arrived in Mexico on October 29, 2024.
Currently, Cyprus has one Miss Universe placement, which is the Top 10 finish of Nicosia’s Dímitra Eleutheríou (Δήμητρα Ελευθερίου) in 2002. The country was represented in the international beauty pageant in 1973, in 1974, from 1980 to 1987 and from 1992 to 2012.
Nicosia is the capital and the largest city of Cyprus. The country is north of Egypt, east of Greece, west of Lebanon and Syria and south of Turkey.
Miss Universe 2024
On November 16, 2024, the coronation ceremony of Miss Universe 2024 will be held at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico. Mario Lopez will host the show with Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray as the commentator.
Representing Cyprus, Dimitriou will compete against 127 other candidates including Logina Salah, 34, of Egypt, Christianna Katsieri, 22, of Greece, Nada Koussa, 26, of Lebanon and Ayliz Duman, 20, of Turkey. The oldest candidate is Beatrice Njoya, 40, of Malta and the youngest one is Valentina Alekseeva, 18, of Russia.
This is the 73rd edition of Miss Universe, which is currently co-owned by JKN Global Group and Legacy Holding Group. This also marks the first time candidates older than 28 are allowed to compete.
On November 18, 2023, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua won the 72nd edition at the Gimnasio Nacional Jose Adolfo Pineda in San Salvador, El Salvador. Anntonia Porsild of Thailand and Moraya Wilson of Australia were the respective first and second runners-up.
