Miss Earth 2020
Tiya Alkerdi, 23, of Syria was one of the 82 women who competed for the Miss Earth 2020. The beauty pageant was held through a virtual coronation ceremony amid the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
This is the first time Syria is represented in Miss Earth. Bangladesh and Burkina Faso also made their debuts in the international beauty pageant based in the Philippines.
It was Lindsey Coffey of the United States who won the Miss Earth 2020 crown. Also crowned were Miss Earth-Air 2020 Stephany Zreik, 24, of Venezuela, Miss Earth-Water 2020 Roxanne Baeyens, 23, of the Philippines and Miss Earth-Fire 2020 Michala Rubinstein, 27, of Denmark.
Amara Shune Lei, 24, of Myanmar, Tessa Ie Conge, 26, of the Netherlands, Sabina Półtawska, 21, of Poland and Krystal Badillo, 25, of Puerto Rico finished in the Top 8. Alkerdi, Meghna Alam, 25, of Bangladesh and Amira Naïmah Bassané, 20, of Burkina Faso were all unplaced.
Tiya Alkerdi
Born in 1997, Alkerdi hails from Aleppo, Syria. She is currently based in Irbil, Iraq.
She is 5’6″. She works a fashion and print model.
As a little girl, Alkerdi played soccer a lot. One day in 2006, she went to a friend’s house without telling her parents, who then called the cops.
Alkerdi is proud of Syria’s drama series, actors, ecotourism and medicine. She loves watching action movies.
As part of Alkerdi’s advocacy, she regularly creates events for orphans. In April 2017, she competed in Miss Arab 2017 and won the Miss Elegant 2017 title.
Alkerdi was crowned Miss Syria Elegance 2018. On October 2, 2020, she was appointed Miss Earth Syria 2020.
