Sacramento, California’s Joseph Morales submits Alibi Idiris at ‘UFC 319’ in Chicago, Illinois

Fighting out of Sacramento, California, United States, Joseph “Bopo” Morales, 30, was one of the winners of the Ultimate Fighting Championship event “UFC 319” on August 16, 2025. He now holds a professional mixed martial arts record of 13 wins and 2 losses.

Held at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, United States, “UFC 319” featured 12 MMA matches. The first one was a flyweight bout between Morales and Alibi Idiris, 30, of Aktau, Kazakhstan.

Nick Cimmarusti served as the referee. He stopped the flyweight contest after 3 minutes and 4 seconds in the second round when Morales submitted Idiris via triangle choke.

This made Morales the first athlete to beat Idiris in a professional MMA bout. The Kazakh MMA fighter made his UFC debut at “UFC 319”.

The loss downgraded Idiris’s professional MMA record to 10 wins and 1 loss. Both he and Morales are 5’6″ tall.

Idiris turned 30 on October 22, 2024. Before joining the UFC, he competed in Naiza Fighter Championship.

Born in Clovis, California, Morales will turn 31 on August 22, 2025. He made his professional MMA debut in a World Series of Fighting event in Sacramento on December 13, 2014.

From 2014 to 2017, Morales was undefeated. When he made his UFC debut at “UFC Fight Night 114” at the Arena Ciudad de México (Arena CDMX) in Azcapotzalco, Mexico City, Mexico on August 5, 2017, he submitted Roberto “Little Fury” Sanchez of Houston, Texas, USA via rear-naked choke.

On February 3, 2018, Morales lost to Deiveson Figueiredo of Soure, Pará, Brazil via technical knockout at “UFC Fight Night 125” at Arena Guilherme Paraense in Belém, Para. It was the first professional MMA loss of the Clovis native.

After going on hiatus from 2019 to 2020, Morales competed in Cage Warriors from in 2021 and in 2022 and in Urijah Faber’s A1 Combat in 2023. He went on hiatus again in 2024 and returned to the UFC at “UFC 319”.
