Glendale, Arizona’s Drakkar Klose beats Edson Barboza at ‘UFC 319’ in Chicago, Illinois

Fighting out of Glendale, Arizona, United States, Drakkar Klose, 37, was one of the winners of the Ultimate Fighting Championship event “UFC 319” on August 16, 2025. He now holds a professional mixed martial arts record of 17 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw.

Held at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, USA, “UFC 319” featured 12 MMA matches. The third one was a lightweight bout between Silva and Edson Barboza, 39, of Nova Friburgo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Marc Goddard served as the referee. After three five-minute rounds, he raised the hand of Klose, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

This is Klose’s 10th UFC win, including this victory at “The Ultimate Fighter 25”. He has been competing in the promotion since 2017.

Losing to Klose downgraded Barboza’s professional MMA record to 23 wins and 13 losses. The former is 5’8″ tall and the latter is 5’11” tall.

Barboza turned 39 on January 21, 2025. He has been competing in the UFC since 2010.

Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA, Klose turned 37 on March 9, 2025. He is a purple belt in Brazilian jiujitsu.

Before joining the UFC, Klose competed in Duel for Domination, World Fighting Federation, Rage in the Cage, Tachi Palace Fights and Resurrection Fighting Alliance. He made his professional MMA debut in a DFD event at the Arizona Event Center in Mesa, Arizona on April 5, 2014.

From April 2014 to November 2017, Klose was undefeated. His bout against Joshua Aveles of Rancho Cucamonga, California at “TPF 26” at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, California, USA on February 18, 2016 ended in a split draw.

On December 2, 2017, Klose lost to David Teymur of Stockholm, Sweden via unanimous decision at “UFC 218” at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. It was the Kalamazoo native’s first professional MMA loss.
