Iraq’s Hanin Al Qoreishy from Miss Houston USA 2024 to Miss Universe 2025

Hanin Al Qoreishy, 27, is an entrepreneur, a licensed property and casualty insurance agent, a certified finance and insurance manager and a beauty queen originally from Baghdad, Iraq. She was 12 years old when she migrated from the Middle Eastern country to the United States.

Al Qoreishy is a resident of Houston, Texas, USA and Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. She is the founder of Uplifted Hearts, a nonprofit that supports children who are orphans and refugees.

On March 30, 2024, Al Qoreishy made her beauty pageant debut at Miss Houston USA 2024 at Hilton Houston Post Oak in Houston. She and 28 other candidates competed for the title.

Mary Sickler emerged as the winner. Al Qoreishy, Sydney Rice, Sydney Ying, Victoria Malborough and Elish Young finished in the Top 6.

On June 22, 2024, Sickler represented Houston at Miss Texas USA 2024 at Hilton Houston Post Oak. She was second runner-up to Aarieanna Ware.

On August 12, 2024, Al Qoreishy represented Nevada at Miss Grand United States 2024 at Club M2 in Miami, Florida, USA. She competed against 18 other candidates including Georgia’s Cora Griffen, who won the title.

Runner-up to Griffen was New Jersey’s Tiajah Elliott while the respective second, third and fourth runners-up were Illinois’s Victoria Oluwakotanmi, Florida’s Andrea Valentina and Arizona’s Giselle Burgos. Al Qoreishy finished in the Top 12.

On October 25, 2024, Griffen represented the U.S. at Miss Grand International 2024 and competed against 67 other candidates at MGI Hall in Bangkok, Thailand. She was unplaced.

Like Al Qoreishy, Miss Universe Iraq national director Ghaith Al-Mousawy is a resident of Houston. On June 27, 2025, she was appointed Miss Universe Iraq 2025.

On November 21, 2025, Al Qoreishy will represent Iraq at Miss Universe 2025 at the Impact Challenger Hall in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi, Thailand. She will compete against 128 other candidates including Sahar Biniaz, 41, of iran.

This marks the fifth time Iraq is represented in Miss Universe. Wijdan Burhan El-Deen Sulyman, Shimaa Qasim, Sarah Idan and Balsam Hussein were unplaced when they represented the country in the international beauty pageant in 1972, 2016, 2017 and 2022, respectively.
