Tanzania’s Flaviana Matata praises The Beaumont Mayfair

Miss Universe 2007 finalist Flaviana Matata, 37, of Tanzania was recently in London, England, United Kingdom. She stayed at The Beaumont Mayfair in Mayfair, London.

In 2024, the hotel celebrated its 10th anniversary by refreshing its 72 rooms and suites and adding 29 more in an adjacent building formerly owned by the United States embassy. In January 2025, the hotel appointed Brendan Fyldes as its executive chef.

On March 22, 2025, the Tanzanian model and beauty queen took to social media to share her experience staying at the hotel. According to her, working from the hotel was effortless because of her spacious suite.

Matata also liked the breakfast at the restaurant and the stylish bar where she caught up with friends over drinks. She wrote, “Every moment was a treat.”

The U.K. was not among the 77 countries and territories represented in the 56th edition of Miss Universe. In this edition, Montenegro, Serbia and Tanzania were represented in the competition for the first time.

Matata made history not only as the first ever Miss Universe Tanzania. She is also the first Tanzanian beauty queen to place in Miss Universe.

It was Japan’s Riyo Mori who won the Miss Universe 2007 crown at the National Auditorium in Mexico City, Mexico on May 28, 2007. Matata finished in the Top 10 along with Angola’s Micaela Reis, India’s Puja Gupta, Mexico’s Rosa Maria Ojeda and Nicaragua’s Xiomara Blandino.

Runner-up to Mori was Brazil’s Natália Guimarães. The respective second, third and fourth runners-up were Venezuela’s Ly Jonaitis, South Korea’s Honey Lee and the U.S.’s Rachel Smith.

On November 16, 2024, Denmark’s Victoria Theilvig won Miss Universe 2024 at the Arena Ciudad de México in Azcapotzalco, Mexico City. She competed against 124 other candidates including Tanzania’s Judith Ngusa, who was unplaced.

Runner-up to Theilvig was Nigeria’s Chidimma Adetshina. The respective second, third and fourth runners-up were Mexico’s Maria Fernanda Beltran, Thailand’s Suchata Chuangsri and Venezuela’s Ileana Marquez.
