Miriam Jaross is also known as Miriam Yaron. She was born Giselle Freilich in Germany in 1929.
Also in 1929, the Polish-Jewish newspaper Nasz Przegląd launched a beauty pageant called Wybór Miss Judaei, which was exclusively for young Jewish women. The coronation ceremony was held at Hotel Polonia in Warsaw, Poland on March 28, 1929 with 11 semifinalists and 12 male judges.
Zofia Oldak was crowned Wybór Miss Judaei 1929. The firs runner-up was Liza Harkawy, who also won the Readers’ Choice award, while Mirjam “Marya” Łobzowska was second runner-up.
Israel
On May 14, 1948, Jewish Agency head David Ben-Gurion declared the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz-Israel to be known as the State of Israel. On May 11, 1949, the country was admitted as a member of the United Nations by majority vote.
On October 28, 1948, Israel’s flag was adopted. Passed on July 5, 1950, the Israeli law called the Law of Return gives Jews, people with one or more Jewish grandparent and their spouses the right to relocate to Israel and acquire Israeli citizenship.

When Jaross won Malkat HaYofi 1950 on September 30, 1950, she was already married and a mother of one. Before her coronation, she was employed as a nurse.
Jaross did not represent Israel in an international beauty pageant. The inaugural editions of Miss World and Miss Universe were held on July 29, 151 and on June 28, 1952, respectively.
Ofir Korsia
On September 29, 2024, Ofir Korsia won the inaugural edition of Miss Universe Israel at the Hilton Miami Aventura in Aventura, Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. Originally from Rishon Lezion, Israel, she defeated seven other finalists.
On November 16, 2024, Korsia represented Israel at Miss Universe 2024 and competed against 124 other candidates at the Arena Ciudad de México in Azcapotzalco, Mexico City, Mexico. She was unplaced.
