Khamzat Chimaev, 30, won all of his eight Ultimate Fighting Championship fights. Fighting out of the United Arab Emirates, the Chechen mixed martial artist has been competing in the MMA promotion based in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA since 2020.
Born in Gvardeyskoye, Chechnya, Russia, Chimaev moved to Sweden in 2013 as an asylum seeker. He first lived in Malmö and moved to Lidkopings before settling in Kalmar.
“UFC 308”
“The Reaper” Robert Whittaker, 33, of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia fought Chimaev at “UFC 308” at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE on October 26, 2024. There were 13 bouts on the card.
In the co-main event, Whittaker and Chimaev battled it out in the middleweight division. Jason Herzog served as the referee.
After 3 minutes and 34 seconds, Herzog stopped the middleweight contest. Chimaev submitted Whittaker via face crank.
The loss downgraded Whittaker’s professional MMA record to 26 wins and 8 losses. He is a former UFC Middleweight Champion.
Chimaev now has 14 wins and 0 loss. Before joining the UFC, he competed in the International Ring Fight Arena and BRAVE Combat Federation.
On July 16, 2020, Chimaev made his UFC debut. The first seven opponents he defeated in the promotion are John Phillips, Rhys McKee, Gerald Meerschaert, Jingliang Li, Gilbert Burns, Kevin Holland and Kamaru Usman.
