Emilia Dobreva’s stardom from Miss Eco International 2017 to Miss Universe 2024

Emilia Dobreva, 27, is set to make history as the first ever Miss Universe candidate representing the United Arab Emirates. She is a Kosovar-Serbian entrepreneur, car racer, television presenter, model and beauty queen based in Nad Al, Sheba, Dubai, UAE.

Born in Pristina, Kosovo, Dobreva was a baby when she and her family moved to the UAE. She speaks six languages including English and Chinese.

Dobreva is a mother of three and she owns a clothing brand called Dashuri. She is 5’11” tall.

On August 20, 2016, Dobreva competed against nine other Miss Union Baku 2016 finalists representing Russia where she was studying at the time. She was second runner-up to Maia Amashukeli of Georgia.

On November 5, 2016, Dobreva represented Siberia at Miss Model of the World 2016 in Shenzhen, China. She was the fourth runner-up to Anna Aleksandra Adela Merimaa of Finland.

On April 14, 2017, Dobrave represented Kosovo at Miss Eco International 2017 and competed against 57 other candidates in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. She was unplaced.

The Miss Eco International 2017 title was won by Amber Bernachi of Canada. She was runner-up to Miss Universe Canada 2016 Siera Bearchell. Bernachi finished in the Top 15 at Miss International 2016 and Bearchell finished in the Top 9 at Miss Universe 2016.

On May 13, 2017, Dobreva represented Kosovo at Miss Supertalent of the World 2017 and competed against 41 other candidates in South Korea. She was unplaced but won the Best in Swimsuit award.

On September 16, 2017, Dobreva represented Kosovo at Miss Cosmopolitan World 2017 and competed against 29 other candidates at Putrajaya Marriott Hotel in Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya, Malaysia. She finished in the Top 10 and was one of the three winners of the Best Talent award. 

Representing Serbia, Dobreva won Miss Friendship International 2019 on July 27, 2019 at the Xian Tang Zhong Binhu Performance Hall in Chengdu, China, besting 45 other candidates. She and 29 other candidates were supposed to compete for the Miss Universe UAE 2021 title at La Perle in Al Habtoor City, Dubai on November 7, 2021 but the competition was canceled.

On October 19, 2024, Dobreva competed against 16 other Miss Universe UAE 2024 candidates in Dubai and won the title. On November 16, 2024, she will represent the UAE at Miss Universe 2024 and compete against 129 other candidates at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico.
