Francis “The Predator” Ngannou, 38, of Cameroon and France is currently in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He will make his Professional Fighters League debut at “Battle of the Giants” at the Mayadeen in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on October 19, 2024.
There are nine mixed martial arts matches on the card. In the main event, Ngannou and Renan “Problema” Ferreira, 34, of Santa Tereza de Goias, Goias, Brazil will fight for the PFL Heavyweight Super Fights World Championship title.
“I would definitely say Renan is at the top of the line but my entire life, my biggest opponent has always been me,” Ngannou said days before fight night. “On Saturday night, I am going to get him, so he should be ready.”
Ngannou holds a professional MMA record of 17 wins and 3 losses and 12 of those wins were via knockout. Ferreira has 13 wins, 3 losses and 3 No Contest and 11 of those wins were via knockout.
“This is an MMA fight so everything will be on display,” Ngannou said. “We’ve prepared everything and everything will be on display.”
Ferreira, a jiu-jitsu black belt, has been competing in the PFL since 2021. On the other hand, Ngannou was an Ultimate Fighting Championship athlete from 2015 to 2022.
“Let’s just say I am going to fight strategically and according to how the fight presents itself,” Ngannou said when asked if he is planning for a knockout victory. “In my career, I went for a knockout but it didn’t work out for me. The times when I did score a knockout, it wasn’t something that I had planned.”
“Battle of the Giants” marks the MMA comeback of Ngannou, who went on hiatus in 2023. He said, “I know I have 25 minutes so I am going to lay my game plan down in that 25 minutes and win the fight.”
