What happened to Liam Payne at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina?

In 2008, Liam auditioned for “The X Factor” Season 5, moved past the first round but did not make it to the live rounds. In 2010, he auditioned for the seventh season as a solo artist but was put into a group with Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik to form One Direction, which was active from 2010 to 2016.

On August 24, 2018, Capitol Records released Liam’s first and only extended play titled “First Time”. On December 6, 2019, Capitol Records released his first and only studio album titled “LP1“.

In October 2022, Liam started dating Kate Cassidy, then 23, of New Jersey, United States. On March 1, 2024, Capitol Records and Hampton Records released his song “Teardrops”, the lead single from his planned second studio album.

On August 29, 2024, Liam turned 31. On September 30, 2024, he and Cassidy arrived in Argentina.

On October 14, 2024, Cassidy left Argentina while Liam stayed behind and checked into the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The hotel is 3 kilometers away from Jorge Newbery Airfield, an international airport in Buenos Aires.

The hotel has an onsite restaurant, a fitness center, a luggage storage and a 24-hour front desk. The hotel’s rooms have air conditioning, a safety-deposit box, bed linen, towels, a flat-screen television with cable channels and a private bathroom with free toiletries.

Just after 5:00 p.m. on October 16, 2024, the hotel manager called 911 to report that Liam was aggressive and overwhelmed with drugs and alcohol. According to the manager, the former One Direction member was destroying his room on the third floor of the hotel.

That afternoon, Liam jumped from the balcony of his room, Buenos Aires Security Ministry communications director Pablo Policicchio said in a statement to The Associated Press. The English singer’s body was removed from the hotel three hours after the fall.
