Sadjia Herbane, 19, of Algiers, Algeria and Noura Al Jasmi, 22, of Dubai, United Arab Emirates are set to make history in beauty pageants. They are both competing for the Miss Earth 2024 title.
Miss Earth was launched in Metro Manila, Philippines in 2001. Herbane and Al Jasmi are the competition’s first ever candidates from Algeria and the UAE, respectively.
Including the two beauty queens, a total of 81 women are vying for the crown. The coronation ceremony will be held at the Okada Manila in Parañaque, Metro Manila on November 9, 2024.
Noura Al Jasmi
Raised in the UAE, Al Jasmi has faced the challenges posed by climate change in the Middle East. She represented the UAE at the Al Ghadeer Pavilion during the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28), which was held at the Expo City Dubai in Dubai from November 30, 2023 to December 12, 2023.
On August 18, 2024, Al Jasmi competed against 29 other Miss Earth UAE 2024 candidates in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE and won the title. Miss Earth 2023 Drita Ziri attended the event as a judge.
Currently, Al Jasmi is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in aviation science. At the same time, she is employed by a private company in Dubai as a customer support executive.
Sadjia Herbane
Herbane was born and raised in Algeria. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in foreign languages.
On October 1, 2024, Herbane competed against 13 other Miss Earth Algeria 2024 finalists at the Algiers Marriott Hotel Bab Ezzouar in Bordj El Kiffan, Algeria. She won the title.
Runner-up to Herbane was Mouna Bekhchi. The second runner-up was Yasmine Mamouni.
“I am honored to be crowned Miss Earth Algeria 2024 and to have the opportunity to represent my country in the Philippines,” Herbane stated after her coronation. “This moment marks the beginning of an incredible journey, and I am ready to proudly carry Algeria’s colors on the international stage. Thank you all for your support and encouragement.”
