Haskovo’s Elena Vian crowned Miss Universe Bulgaria 2024 in Sofia

Elena Vian (ЕЛЕНА ВИАН), 38, of Haskovo, Bulgaria is Bulgaria’s Miss Universe 2024 representative. She describes herself as a travel junkie who enjoys costume design and styling.

Haskovo is the 12th largest city in Bulgaria and is around 231 kilometers away from the country’s capital Sofia. Both tennis player Grigor Dimitrov, 33, and badminton player Gabriela Stoeva, 30, were born in Haskovo.

On October 13, 2024, Vian competed against 16 other Miss Universe Bulgaria 2024 finalists at the C’est La Vie Club in Sofia, Bulgaria. She won the title.

At 38, Vian was the oldest candidate. Two other candidates were only 16, three were 18 and one was 19.

Bashar Rahal hosted the coronation ceremony, which featured performances by 100 Kila, the Argirovi Brothers, Iva Kostadinovi and Velislava Kostadinovi. Miss Universe Bulgaria national director Veneta Krasteva served as a judge.

Miss World Bulgaria 2017 Veronika Stefanova, Miss Universe Bulgaria 2023 Yuliia Pavlikova, Mister World Bulgaria 2024 Mikhail Sitev also joined the judging panel along with Julia Salakina, Mariana Mikeli and Plamen Miriyanov. Pavlikova is currently the Miss Universe Estonia national director.

Pavlikova was crowned Miss Universe Bulgaria 2023 in Sofia on October 27, 2023. She was unplaced at Miss Universe 2023 on November 18, 2023.

On November 16, 2024, Vian will represent Bulgaria at Miss Universe 2024 at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico. She will compete against more than 120 candidates including Valeria Vasilieva, 22, of Estonia and María Fernanda Beltrán, 24, of Mexico.

The coronation ceremony will be aired on Roku, Telemundo, TV Azteca and USA Network. The hosts and judges have yet to be announced.

This is the 73rd edition of Miss Universe, which marks the first time Belarus, Eritrea, Guinea, Iran, Macau, Moldova, North Macedonia, Somalia and Uzbekistan are represented in the competition. The first cut will be Top 30.

If Vian makes it at least to the first cut, she will make history as the first candidate from Bulgaria to place in Miss Universe. The Balkan country was represented in the beauty pageant from 1991 to 1998, 2000 to 2007, in 2009 and from 2012 to 2023.
