Indonesia’s Glenn Victor Sutanto’s stardom from 2016 Summer Olympics to Mister International 2024

Born in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia, Glenn Victor Sutanto, 34, is a competitive swimmer who has represented Indonesia in the Asian Games, the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games and the Summer Olympics. He competes in the backstroke, butterfly and freestyle events.

On September 21, 2017, Sutanto married Adeline Makhmutova, who is originally from Russia. On July 7, 2019, she gave birth to their first child, a daughter.

Sutanto is 6’0″ tall. He speaks Indonesian and English.

On November 18, 2010, Sutanto finished seventh in men’s 50m backstroke at the 2010 Asian Games at the at the Aoti Aquatics Centre in Guangzhou, China. On November 12, 2011, he won bronze in 50m butterfly at the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games at the New Clark City Aquatics Center in Capas, Tarlac, Philippines.

On September 26, 2014, Sutanto and his teammates finished fifth in men’s 4×100 medley relay at the 17th Asian Games at the Munhak Park Tae-hwan Aquatics Center in Nam-gu, Incheon, South Korea. He won silver at the 28th SEA Games 2015 at the Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation (OCBC) Aquatic Centre in Kallang, Singapore in both men’s 100m butterfly on June 9, 2015 and in men’s 50m butterfly on June 10, 2015.

On August 11, 2016, Sutanto ranked 35th in the heats in men’s 100 metre butterfly at the 2016 Summer Olympics at the Olympic Aquatics Stadium in the Barra Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. On August 26, 2017, he won silver in men’s 100m butterfly at the 29th SEA Games at the National Aquatic Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

On August 24, 2018, Sutanto and his teammates finished sixth in men’s 4×100 metre medley relay at the 2018 Asian Games at the Gelora Bung Karno Aquatic Stadium in Gelora, Jakarta, Indonesia. On December 9, 2019, he won bronze in 50m butterfly at the 30th SEA Games at the New Clark City Aquatics Center in Capas.

On May 15, 2022, Sutanto won bronze in 50m butterfly at the 31st SEA Games at the Mỹ Đình Aquatics Center in Hanoi, Vietnam.

On August 31, 2024, Sutanto competed against 14 other finalists at The New L-Men of the Year 2024 at Balai Sarbini in Jakarta, Indonesia. He won the title.

Runner-up to Sutanto was Elias Yahya Honasan while Daniel Nugraha Purwandi was second runner-up. In July 2025, Purwandi will represent Indonesia at Mister Supranational 2025 in Nowy Sącz, Poland.

On November 7, 2024, Sutanto will turn 35. On December 14, 2024, he will represent Indonesia at Mister International 2024 and compete against more than 40 other candidates in Bangkok, Thailand.

If Sutanto wins, he will be the first ever Mister International from Indonesia. Representing the Asian country, Thomas Sebastian was third runner-up in 2010, Steven Yoswara was second runner-up in 2011 and Albern Sultan was first runner-up in 2013.
