Jared McCain was born in Sacramento, California, United States to Lance McCain and Jina McCain. Lance and Gina have another son named Jayce McCain.

Lance is a flight attendant. He and Gina raised Jayce and Jared in Corona, California.

Jared McCain’s basketball career

Jared played basketball at Centennial High School in Corona. As a junior, he was named the California Gatorade Player of the Year.

When Jared was a senior, he was selected to play in the 2023 McDonald’s All-American Boys Game and was named the California Gatorade Player of the Year again. On March 18, 2022, he committed to playing college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils men’s basketball team of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, USA.

In June 2023, Jared entered Duke University. On November 6, 2023, he made his college basketball debut.

On February 20, 2024, Jared turned 20. On April 13, 2024, he declared for the 78th edition of the annual NBA draft.

On June 27, 2024, Jared was selected with the 16th overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers. On July 4, 2024, he signed with the NBA team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.
