Tomiris Zair’s stardom from Miss Qazakhstan 2022 to Miss Universe 2023

Tomiris Zair, 19, of Almaty, Kazakhstan represented Kazakhstan at Miss Universe 2023. It is the 72nd edition of the international beauty pageant currently owned by JKN Global.

On September 19, 2022, Zair was crowned Miss Almaty 2022. Her runners-up were Andreana Tkachenko, 19, Dilnaz Tilaeva, 19, and Karina Abdulkhairova, 22.

On November 18, 2022, Zair, Tilaeva and Abdulkhairova competed against 20 other Miss Qazakhstan 2022 candidates at the Palace of the Republic in Almaty. The crown was won by Tomiris Kakimova, 24, of Astana, who will represent Kazakhstan in the 71st edition of Miss World.

Diana Tashimbetova, 19, of Almaty finished second and was crowned Miss Universe Qazakhstan 2022. Tilaeva ranked third and was crowned Miss Earth Qazakhstan 2022.

Zair finished fourth and was crowned Vice Miss Qazakhstan 2022. Tashimbetova was supposed to represent Kazakhstan at Miss Universe 2023 on January 14, 2023 but she was dethroned before the coronation ceremony due to a conflict with the Miss Qazakhstan organizaiton.

On August 28, 2023, Zair was officially appointed Miss Universe Kazakhstan 2023. On September 12, 2023, she crowned her successor Miss Almaty 2023 Natalya Petri at Queen Almaty in Almaty.

On November 18, 2023, Zair represented Kazakhstan at Miss Universe 2023 at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador. She competed against 83 other candidates including Isabella Garcia-Manzo of El Salvador.

Zair was unplaced. Garcia-Manzo finished in the Top 10.

It was Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua who won the Miss Universe 2023 title. Anntonia Porsild of Thailand and Moraya Wilson of Australia were the respective first and second runners-up.
