Beatrice Gomez’s stardom from Miss Mandaue 2015 to Miss Universe 2021

Born in San Fernando, Cebu, Philippines, Beatrice Luigi Gallarde Gomez turned 26 on February 23, 2021. She earned her bachelor’s degree in mass communication from the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) in Cebu City, Philippines. 

Gomez is 5’9″ tall. In 2021, she made history as the Philippines’ first ever openly bisexual Miss Universe candidate.

Gomez was a USJ-R volleyball player when she was chosen as Miss Cebu City Olympics 2010 in October 2010. She later became Miss Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) 2012 and Mutya ng Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) 2012 Region VII.

On May 7, 2015, Gomez competed against 11 other candidates at Miss Mandaue 2015 at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex in Mandaue City, Philippines. Ena Louis Velasco won the title.

Runner-up to Velasco was Cynthia Thomalla. Gomez was the second runner-up.

On March 18, 2018, Velasco finished in the Top 25 at Binibining Pilipinas 2018. On April 27, 2018, Thomalla won Miss Eco International 2018.

On January 13, 2020, Gomez represented San Fernando at Bb. Cebu 2020 and competed against 54 other candidates at the Grand Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in Cebu City. Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray attended the coronation ceremony as a guest of honor.

Bb. Cebu 2018 Steffi Rose Aberasturi crowned Gomez, who won the title. Also crowned were Bb. Cebu Tourism 2020 Ameena Allababidi of Cordova, Bb. Cebu Charity 2020 Betty Davis of Cebu City North, Bb. Cebu Heritage 2020 Marla Alforque of Carcar City and Bb. Cebu Ecology 2020 Amanda Basnillo of Dalaguete.

On September 30, 2021, Gomez represented Cebu City at Miss Universe Philippines 2021 at the Henann Resort Convention Center in Alona Beach, Panglao, Bohol. She competed against 27 other candidates including Aberasturi, who represented Cebu.

Gomez won the title while Aberasturi and Maureen Wroblewitz ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, and were named the respective first and second runners-up. Also crowned were Miss Universe Philippines Tourism 2021 Katrina Dimaranan and Miss Universe Philippines Charity 2021 Victoria Velasquez Vincent.

On December 13, 2021, Gomez represented the Philippines at Miss Universe 2021 and competed against 79 other candidates at the Universe Dome in Eilat, Israel. She and Valeria Ayos of Colombia finished in the Top 5.

Harnaaz Sandhu of India won the title. The respective first and second runners-up were Nadia Ferreira of Paraguay and Lalela Mswane of South Africa.
