Amandine Petit, 23, was born in Caen, Calvados, Normandy, France and raised in Bourguébus, Calvados. Also a resident of Normandy is Miss France 2010 Malika Ménard.
In March 2015, Petit met Ménard. The encounter inspired the former to compete in beauty pageants and she became Miss Lower Normandy 2015 first runner-up and Miss Normandy 2015 second runner-up.
On September 26, 2020, Petit was crowned Miss Normandy 2020 in Coutances, Manche, Normandy. On December 19, 2020, she represented Normandy at Miss France 2021 and competed against 28 other candidates at Puy du Fou in Les Epesses, Pays de la Loire, France.
Petit won the Miss France 2021 crown, making her the seventh Normandy resident to win the title. April Benayoum, 21, of Provence was first runner-up.
While reigning as Miss France 2021, Petit is pursuing a master’s degree in social, sanitary, and gerontological management at the Institut d’Administration des Entreprises campus in Caen within the University of Caen Normandy. In March 2021, she and 108 other women were chosen to portray Marianne in an exhibit unveiled by Marlène Schiappa, 38, at the Panthéon in Paris, France.
As Miss France 2021, Petit was supposed to represent France at either Miss Universe 2021 or Miss World 2021. However, she was instead appointed as Miss Universe France 2020.
On May 16, 2021, Petit represented France at Miss Universe 2020 and competed against 73 other candidates at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, United States. She finished in the Top 21.
It was Andrea Meza, 26, of Mexico who won the Miss Universe 2020 crown. The respective first, second, third and fourth runners-up were Julia Gama, 27, of Brazil, Janick Maceta, 27, of Peru, Adline Castelino, 22, of India and Kímberly Jiménez, 24, of the Dominican Republic.
