The United States and Japan were among the 14 countries represented at “ONE: Clash of Legends.” It was the first ONE Championship event in 2019 to be held in Thailand.
Featuring five Muay Thai contests and seven mixed martial arts bouts, “ONE: Clash of Legends” took place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on February 16, 2019. In the third bout of the evening, Emilio “The Honey Badger” Urrutia, 32, of the U.S. faced Yoshiki Nakahara, 26, of Japan.
Urrutia was the only fighter representing the U.S. Nakahara was one of the three fighters representing Japan.
Blue Corner
Born in Onomichi, Hiroshima, Japan on November 13, 1992, Nakahara is training out of Mach Dojo in Ryugasaki, Ibaraki, Japan. He has been competing professionally since 2012.
“ONE: Clash of Legends” marked Nakahara’s ONE Championship debut. He is a former Gladiator Featherweight Champion and he previously competed in Pancrase.
Red Corner
Urrutia was born in Miami, Florida, USA on November 19, 1986. He is the inaugural Singapore Fighting Championship Bantamweight Champion and is currently training and teaching at Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, Thailand.
Competing professionally since 2013, Urrutia joined ONE Championship in 2017. “ONE: Clash of Legends” marked his fifth bout in the promotion.
Fight Result
Urrutia and Nakahara competed in an MMA bout in the featherweight division. Olivier Coste served as the referee.
Coste put a stop to the contest after 2 minutes and 56 seconds in the third round when Nakahara knocked out Urrutia. It marked the fourth time the Japanese fighter won a professional MMA bout via knockout.
Winning at “ONE: Clash of Legends” improved Nakahara’s professional MMA record to 13 wins and 4 losses. On the other hand, Urrutia now has 11 wins and 7 losses.
“ONE: Clash of Legends” Main Events
In the co-main event of the evening, Kongsak P.K.Saenchaimuaythaigym, 28, of Thailand faced Alaverdi “Babyface Killer” Ramazanov, 24, of Russia in a Muay Thai bout in the bantamweight division. The Thai contender won via split decision.
In the main event, Nong-o Gaiyanghadao, 32, of Thailand and Han Zi Hao, 23, of China competed for the inaugural ONE Super Series Bantamweight Muay Thai World Championship. The Thai contender won via unanimous decision.
Cambodia, China, France, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Russia, South Korea, Thailand and the United Kingdom were also represented at “ONE: Clash of Legends.” Check all the results here.
