Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Elisa Magnayon Gray, 24, has been in a relationship with Clint Bondad Wachsmuth, 24, for six years. She is Filipino-Australian while he is Filipino-German.
Gray was born in Cairns, Queensland, Australia on January 6, 1994. Her Australian father Ian Gray was originally from Fraserburgh, Scotland while her Filipino mother Normita Ragas Magnayon is a native of Oas, Albay, Philippines.
Wachsmuth was born on March 26, 1994 in Offenbach am Main, Hesse, Germany to a German father and a Filipino mother. He has a younger brother named Kirk Bondad Wachsmuth.
Clint and Kirk’s mother Jane Bondad Wachsmuth is an Igorot from Mountain Province, Philippines. The family stayed in Dietzenbach, Offenbach, Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany before moving to Frankfurt, Germany when Clint was in fourth grade.
After high school, Clint moved to the Philippines. He studied at the Trinity University of Asia in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
Pursuing a career in modelling and acting, Clint has yet to earn his bachelor’s degree in biology at the Trinity University of Asia. He has been modeling since he was 17 and he has been acting professionally when he was 20.
Catriona and Clint celebrate their anniversary every June 12, which happens to fall on the Independence Day of the Philippines. They first met in an elevator during a casting for a commercial in Baguio City, Philippines.
Aside from Catriona’s parents, Clint and Kirk also watched the Miss Universe 2018 coronation live in Thailand. After the beauty pageant, Clint told GMA News that she is “the most deserving” and “the hardest working in the room.”
“I brought her once with my family in a shop,” Clint said of Catriona. “She would just simply sit down and organize the shelves, like she would just be helpful. My tita (aunt), every time they met her, mentions that Catriona organized the shelves in her store.”
When Miss Universe 2018 host Steve Harvey said all of the 94 candidates worked hard for the crown, Clint disagreed, claiming that it was Catriona who worked the hardest. The German-Igorot model and actor told ABS-CBN News that his Filipino-Australian girlfriend ” deserves the best” considering “how much work she puts into it, how many hours, how many tears she put into it.”
In 2012, Clint and Catriona appeared together in a Smart Broadband commercial. It marked their first onscreen kiss.
