Rodney Tapia’s stardom from Mister República Dominicana US 2017 to Mister Grand International 2018

Rodney Tapia of Hermanas Mirabal, Dominican Republic is Mister Grand International 2018. He is the only son of Arquímedes Tapia and Eunice García.

Rodney is a model with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and visual merchandising. His mother survived breast cancer five years after her diagnosis and his father died of a brain tumor.

On October 5, 2017, Rodney represented Hermanas Mirabal at Mister República Dominicana US 2017 at the Lovinger Theatre of City University of New York’s Lehman College in the Bronx, New York City, New York, United States. Melcy López performed during the coronation ceremony, which was hosted by Jessica Pereira.

Rodney won the title. Miss República Dominicana US 2012 Chantel Martínez and Mister República Dominicana US 2015 Anthony Raúl Hernández served as judges along with Danelle I. Dungca, Dimas Bravo, Enny Pichardo, Italia Vignieri and Víctor López.

Also crowned were Mister Grand República Dominicana 2017 Ian Olivo of Duarte, Mister Eco República Dominicana 2017 Ronald Ovalles of Santo Domingo and Mister Supermodel International República Dominicana 2017 Braulio Santos of La Altagracia. Jorge Soto of San José de Ocoa was the first runner-up.

Rodney represented the Dominican Republic at Mister Grand International 2018. It was the second edition of the international beauty pageant for men.

Including Rodney, nine men competed for the title. The coronation ceremony was held at the CDC Ballroom in Yangon, Myanmar on December 7, 2018.

It was Rodney who won the title. The respective first, second, third and fourth runners-up were Cao Thien Son of Vietnam, Steven Le Coquet of France, Jesus Alvarado of Venezuela and Riyu Yuasa of Japan.

Michael Angelo Skyllas of Australia won the inaugural edition in 2017. The respective first, second, third and fourth runners-up were Rachata Hamphanon of Thailand, Nguyen Tien Dat of Vietnam, Hamid Noor of Germany and Joshua Reginald Banatin of the Philippines.
