Reigning ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes, 38, of Brazil was one of the ONE Championship athletes who joined the “ONE: Heart of the Lion” worldwide conference call on October 18, 2018. It was moderated by ONE Championship PR and communications vice president Loren Mack.
“ONE: Heart of the Lion” will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on November 9, 2018. In the co-main event, Fernandes will defend his title from ONE Interim Bantamweight World Champion Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, 30, of the Philippines in a rematch.
“Kevin Belingon has improved immensely,” Fernandes acknowledged. “I have seen him grow as a competitor over the past few years. I know that in our rematch, Kevin will be a completely different fighter.”
“Nevertheless, I am very confident that my skills are enough to beat him again,” the Brazilian champ declared. “Yes, he is dangerous. But I will control the pace of this fight and the outcome.”
Fernandes is not taking Belingon for granted. The reigning ONE Bantamweight World Champion is training harder than ever to make sure that he triumphs over his best version yet at “ONE: Heart of the Lion.”
“I have held this world title for a long time and I’m not about to give it up now,” Fernandes said. “I am ready to go the full five rounds but I am also ready to finish the bout by knockout or submission when the opportunity presents itself.”
“Thank you for the welcome in Singapore,” Fernandes added. “Thank you for the support. I look forward to putting on a show this November 9.”
Headlining “ONE: Heart of the Lion” are ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 30, of China and ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angela “Unstoppable” Lee, 22, of Singapore. The latter will challenge the former in an attempt to become the first ever female mixed martial artist to hold two division titles simultaneously.
