Singapore’s Angela Lee to follow Martin Nguyen, Aung La N Sang’s footsteps

ONE Championship currently has two reigning two-division world champions. Before the year ends, ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angela “Unstoppable” Lee, 22, of Singapore will make an attempt to become the third one.

On November 9, 2018, Lee will challenge the reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion at “ONE: Heart of the Lion” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore. The Singaporean mixed martial artist originally competed in the strawweight division before becoming the champion in the atomweight division.

“The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 30, of China will defend the ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion title at “ONE: Beyond the Horizon” at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai, China on September 8, 2018. Her challenger will be ONE Championship debutante Samara “Marituba” Santos, 25, of Brazil.

The bout between Xiong and Santos will be the main event of “ONE: Beyond the Horizon.” The winner will face Lee at “ONE: Heart of the Lion.”

If Lee wins at “ONE: Heart of the Lion,” she will become the reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight and Strawweight World Champion. This will make her the third two-division world champion of ONE Championship.

Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Australia and Vietnam was ONE Championship’s first ever two-division world champion. He captured the featherweight belt on August 18, 2017 and the lightweight belt on November 10, 2017.

The second ONE Championship athlete to achieve this feat was “The Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang, 33, of Myanmar. He won the middleweight title on June 30, 2017 and the light heavyweight title on February 23, 2018.

Lee has been reigning as ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion since May 6, 2016. She has three successful title defenses.

An undefeated fighter, Lee holds a professional MMA record of 9 wins and 0 loss. She was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada to her Chinese-Singaporean father Ken Lee and her South Korean mother Jewelz Lee.
